Join in! Your count makes a difference! Every count shared, no matter the result, will give researchers valuable data about wild birds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"it-s-so-easy-to-take-part-just-three-super-simple-steps\">It&#8217;s so easy to take part. Just three super-simple steps!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/gbbc.birdcount.org\/get-started\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Birdcount.org&nbsp;<\/a>for all the details, but this is basically how it works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Create your free&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/gbbc.birdcount.org\/\">Great Backyard Bird Count<\/a>&nbsp;account at birdcount.org.<\/li><li><strong>Count birds for at least 15 minutes<\/strong>&nbsp;during February 18-21. You can submit more checklists! Keep a checklist for each count you do in additional locations, different times or on other days during the GBBC.<\/li><li>Submit your results&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdcount.org\/ebird-on-computer\/\">on the GBBC website<\/a>&nbsp;or download the free&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdcount.org\/ebird-mobile-app\/\">eBird Mobile app<\/a>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-your-count-helps-wild-birds\">How your count helps wild birds.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With data from citizen-science, scientists can better determine how birds are affected by habitat loss, pollution and disease. &nbsp;<strong>Knowing where greatest needs are for species-specific conservation leads to targeted action to help birds&#8217; survival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-your-count-makes-a-world-of-difference\">How your count makes a world of difference.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Online citizen-science projects, like GBBC, offer research opportunities at a global scale. Our real-time observations and those of other volunteers world-wide are&nbsp;<strong>helping researchers identify and track larger trends in a changing climate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"citizen-science-offers-unlimited-opportunities-to-make-a-difference\">Citizen-science offers unlimited opportunities to make a difference<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The GBBC, launched in 1998, was the first online citizen-science project. Now, there are many more than we can list here!
