Really, really bad. If you know anyone who still feeds bread, crackers or other human snack food to birds, now&#8217;s the time to (urgently, but gently) explain why they should stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, tell them how a Chickadee can freeze to death overnight, with a stomach filled with worse-than-useless bread. If after hearing this they still need convincing, see our new resource page for help: \u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/thebyn.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=82ff9a5d478e2b910e0dc7458&amp;id=c5a1e59140&amp;e=141d85b5c0\" target=\"_blank\">Why Bread is Bad for Wild Birds<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bread is Bad, But Water is Good<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even now, with snow possible at the end of this week, you may see some intrepid\u00a0<strong>early migrants<\/strong>\u00a0making joyful use of the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thebackyardnaturalist.com\/wordpress\/resources\/wild-birds-winter-water\/\">fresh, unfrozen water in your bird bath<\/a><\/strong>. Although some birds won&#8217;t be tempted by your feeders, ALL birds need water, all year round.
