Summer is flying by! You may have noticed traffic ticking up at your nectar feeders. Now that nesting responsibilities are over, females and juveniles are out in abundance. We hope you are experiencing the joys of watching awkward juveniles discover your feeder for the very first time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s a wonderful time of year to see Hummingbirds in action. In fact, your feeder is likely to be ‘operating at peak capacity’ right now. Why? All your Hummingbirds are bulking up in preparation for migration. Imagine how much you would need to eat to fly 4000 miles!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To support these amazing tiny birds and give them the best chance for nourishment, check more frequently to be sure your nectar feeders are fresh and filled right now. Even consider adding another one while Hummingbirds prepare for the difficult and treacherous journey ahead. Support any late migrants who may be passing through, by leaving your feeders up until two weeks after your last sighting. We’ve seen Hummingbirds in our area as late as Halloween!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We’ll be sad to see them go! They have been such a blessing and joy to watch this year. We hope you aren’t missing out on the fun of having a Hummingbird feeder near your window<\/a>, but no worries!
